The down low: You probably saw this book on B&N display tables for at least a year. This is the first book in a trilogy-in-progress (#2 is China Rich Girlfriend). It’s also going to be made into a movie.

Summary in 2 sentences: ABC (that’s American-born Chinese) Rachel Chu, an economics professor, agrees to spend her summer in Singapore with her boyfriend Nicholas, visiting his family. What she doesn’t know is that Nicholas is crazy rich, one of Singapore’s most desirable bachelors, and that women – his mother included – will stop at nothing to make sure he has the perfect match.

Why you should read it: It’s a well-done satire and sort of  Pride & Prejudice-ish.

Read it if you liked: Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld

How B&B categorizes this book: Rich, leisure, jet-setting class novel
